Putting Weird Things In Coffee

I don’t even need to read Putting Weird Things in Coffee to enjoy it, I just love the fact that it exists, this documentation of how several different things are put into this one thing. Things that otherwise may not be put together. So over time we learn more and more about what is good and what is bad to combine with the one thing. It’s almost zen-like.

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra - Tiny Elephant Parade

I love this 90s Japanese Ska cover of the 60s Henry Mancini classic “Baby Elephant Walk”.

Star Wars Propaganda

by Cliff Chiang, more here.

Desktop Earth

Desktop Earth is a wallpaper generator for Windows. It runs whenever you’re logged on and updates your wallpaper with an accurate representation of the Earth as it would be seen from space at that precise moment.

This has been my desktop wallpaper on and off for the past few years. I like watching the night roll by, that is until I see the dawn slowly inch its way across Europe, and I realise it will soon be light, yet for some reason I’m still awake.

Prisencolinensinainciusol

via BoingBoing

Gibberish song by Italian singer Adriano Celentano to show what English sounds like to foreigners. Sounds so close to English you may think your brain is broken.

White Winter Hymnal (Fleet Foxes Cover)

Impressive video editing/synchronisation skills, and a nice cover to boot.

A misogynist stood in the marketplace and announced: “I’m putting my wife up for sale, tax-free!” When people asked him why, he said: “So the authorities will impound her.

Star War - The Backstroke of the West

The chinese bootleg version of Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith comes with English subtitles, though it seems one or two errors may have crept in during the translation process.

More screencaps and commentary over at winterson.com, or theres rumours of a dvd-rip with the wonky subtitles intact floating around a torrent site somewhere, if you wanted to experience the thing in its full glory.

Letterheady

above, the letterhead of Bill Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes fame.

Letterheady is a blog of notable or interesting letterheads, which may sound dull at first, but I find it quite interesting to read into the choices that people have made in how to represent themselves, from the understated yet elegant Spike Milligan or Alfred Hitchcock, to the gothic houses of Stephen King, the bold yet wacky Monty Python, or the almost sci-fi-eque Nikola Tesla. Also Hitler.

I love single subject blogs like this, little collections around a theme, that often result in a compilation that is more than the sum of its parts.

Justice - DVNO

One of my favourite music videos ever, filled with fake 80’s style animated logos, such as this HBO-alike of the song title:

Full breakdown of the individual logos and their origins over at FontFeed.

Interview with Mitch Hedberg

Interviewer: What is your definition of success?

Mitch: To be able to wake up when you want, that’s success, and untuck your shirt man. If you had to tuck in your shirt and get up at a certain hour, that’s no good.

VVVVVV

I picked up VVVVVV during the Steam Black Friday Sale last week, it’s a great little puzzle platform adventure game, only a few hours long, devilishly hard in places, but I can’t recommend it enough, especially given the excellent chiptune soundtrack.

Demo and soundtrack available, or get the full game from the developer or Steam.
